Purpose:
The H.U.B. (Helping Us Be) of Hope HIV/AIDS Ministry is a social justice, reconciliation ministry. While HIV is a health issue, the impact of living with the virus invades all areas of a person’s life. The social justice side effect of HIV/AIDS that further weakens a person’s quality of life includes isolation, stigma, and discrimination. As a faith community embracing a ministry of reconciliation, the H.U.B. of Hope HIV/AIDS Ministry’s purpose is to inform, equip, and mobilize diverse faith communities to respond with compassion and justice as servants in relationship with those living with and affected by HIV/AIDS.
Mission:
The H.U.B. of Hope Ministry’s mission is to provide holistic education about HIV/AIDS to individuals in faith communities through Interfaith Summits and Interactive Studies sponsored by the H.U.B. of Hope HIV/AIDS ministry in collaboration with persons living with and affected by HIV/AIDS, health professionals, and HIV community providers. Due to the disproportionate effect of the virus on African-American and Latino communities, focused initiatives with African-American and Latino faith communities is emphasized. The ministry will also provide faith-based support to persons living with and affected by HIV/AIDS.
