Dear Community Member,
I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself and share the work I will be doing in your community. My name is Karen L. Newman and I am employed by Chester County OIC as a Coordinator of the Workforce Literacy Program. The mission of our agency is preparing individuals to achieve self-sufficiency and employment through literacy and life skills training. We offer to help individuals within our community to achieve a financial future through our GED and ESL (English as a Second Language) Programs. My role is to recruit and train tutors, matching them with learners who will work one on one with them to achieve these goals. I also assess and prepare prospective students in order to begin the educational process. My role also includes following them through this process and offering resources and support needed to achieve their goals. At your convenience, I would like to come to your church or community center to present our program and our need for qualified volunteer tutors. I would like to participate in any fairs, gatherings or fellowship opportunities to acquaint your staff or members of your organization with this volunteer opportunity for service to the community. This program not only offers the opportunity for educational growth, but also builds relationships among people in the community helping everyone to grow through sharing. Please contact me if I can offer further assistance and information regarding our “Power Partnership” program. This relationship creates community partners that are invested in the individual growth and stability of each community member.
Thank you for your kind attention.
Sincerely,
Karen L. Newman
